Tribute

We are saddened by the loss of Jim Singer, a longtime member of The Lake Norman Big Band, who passed away on October 25, 2021.  He was not only known as a fine musician, but also as a gentle man of generous spirit and admirable integrity.

Soon after retiring from a long career in merchandising, Jim embraced his interest in performing on trumpet, fiddle, and guitar, sharing his considerable talents as a member of several area music ensembles, large and small.  These included The Lake Norman Big Band,, the Charlotte Concert and Jazz Bands, the Stumptown Express, as well as groups performing in local venues, such as Richard’s Coffee Shop in Mooresville..  An outstanding soloist, Jim regularly thrilled TLNBB and Charlotte Jazz Band audiences with his amazing trumpet renditions, especially with favorite solos in “Corner Pocket" and "Sugar Blues.”.  An undeniable showman, music was Jim's passion, and he delighted in bringing joy to all through his many performances.

Jim was devoted to his family, who were supportive and proud of all his accomplishments.  Survivors include his wife Loretta, son Jim and wife Vanessa Singer, daughter, Teresa Wrench and grandchildren, Austin, Ashley, and Alex Wrench, all residing in the Lake Norman region.

As we mourn his loss, we will continue to keep Jim’s family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.
